The 1950's comes to Burnside Care Home

Residents, their families and the local community celebrated Care Home Open Day at Burnside Care Home in Laurencekirk in true 1950s style. On Friday (16th June), Burnside hosted a party, concert and open day of the home and the gardens. There was also an impressive themed buffet prepared by the kitchen staff. In the morning, children from nearby Poppies Nursery visited to spend time with the residents.

Musical Melodies, a local group, also performed a concert playing the sounds of the 1950s, and residents and guests had a great time joining in with the songs and dancing. Fiona Tindal, Deputy Manager at Burnside Care Home said: “Everyone seemed to have a fantastic day on Friday.

We had some lovely comments from visitors regarding our home and gardens, the service we provide to our residents and the welcoming family atmosphere. Thank you and well done to everyone for being involved in the day.” Care Home Open Day has been running for five years and aims to emphasise the importance of connecting local communities, developing lasting relationships and encouraging intergenerational rapport.
