Caring About Physical Activity at Spiers

Care About Physical Activity (CAPA) was rolled out in 2016 to encourage Care Providers to include more movement into the daily lives of those they support.

Led by the Care Inspectorate, the programme has helped reduce falls, increase strength and created independence for many older people in Scotland.

The staff in our homes make a conscious effort to incorporate gentle exercise and fun movement into the lives of our residents. Here are the ladies and gents in Spiers Care Home, for example, using the bands during an exercise class in one of our lounge areas.

Stretching, reaching and walking on a regular basis can lead to profound improvements in a person's mobility. And, as you can see - can also be lots of fun to do with your friends.
