The Ninjas from Newark go for gold again

Once again, our 'Newark Ninjas' took part in the 'Going For Gold' event last Friday at Battery Park in Greenock.

Organised in connection with the Care Inspectorate, the event sees care homes across Inverclyde congregate and take part in fun challenges and it has been likened to an 'elderly Olympics'.

The ninja team, which was made up of staff and residents from our Newark Care home, took part in the tug-of-war, slipper throwing and various other activities.

Moira Roberts, Home Manager at Newark, said: "The day was amazing! We all had a fab lunch first then split into various teams playing throw the slipper, egg and spoon, catch the balls, beat the goalie, beanbag throwing and at the end a tug of war between all the activity co-ordinators.

"Thanks to Johnnie from Morton in the Community for joining us as the goalie.

"It was lovely to see our friends from other care homes. Everyone really enjoyed the company, the exercise and the fresh air at the most stunning location. We had such great fun!"
